Q: What is your schedule for reopening the entire facility?
A: We are reopening the facility in phases to ensure we are meeting the needs of our members, and that we are adhering to all social distancing and health guidelines provided by the Provincial Government. We will update the list below with dates as they become available:

Phase 1 – Fitness Centre & Group Fitness – July 6th 2020
Phase 2 – Stanfields Walking Track – TBD
Phase 3 – Koltech Climibing Wall – TBD
Phase 4 – Wilsons Aquatic Centre – TBD

Q: Will I have to wear a mask when I enter the facility?
A: We will not be requiring that our members and users wear masks. This is voluntary. We are opening our facility in phases to ensure we are meeting and exceeding social distancing guidelines and providing ample space for everyone.

Q: What is the group fitness schedule? What classes will be offered?
A: The schedule is below. We will be reviewing the schedule regularly after we reopen and will communicate any changes on our website and social media. Classes will be held on a first come first serve basis and there will be no need to register in advance. Simply check in at our welcome desk upon arrival.

Class Schedule
**Please bring your own Yoga Mat for Yoga Class**
Please show up 15 minutes before class to check in. Please note we can not allow people into the group fitness area earlier than 15 minutes before class

We are looking into providing some exciting new options for virtual classes in the near future as well!

Q: When does my membership resume?
A: As of phase 1, we are only restarting membership for those who wish to visit and use the facility. Our goal is that we will not be resuming all memberships until the pool has been reopened. We will be communicating dates around the next phases as they become available. If you have any questions about memberships please email us at social@ratheastlinkcc.ca

Q: Can I use my day pass/punch pass?
A: For the first two weeks following our reopening ( July 6th - July 20th ) we ask that only members who are billed monthly/yearly access the facility. Day pass holders/multi pass holders will be able to access after the two week opening. We are doing this temporary measure to ensure we can effectively measure our user capacity and support it with appropriate staffing levels. However, if you wish to sign up for a new membership we would welcome new memberships anytime after our reopening on July 6th.

Q: What is the facility layout like? Where are the classes being held?
A: In advance of our reopening on July the 6th, we will be posting a video that will outline what the experience will be like when you return back to the RECC. We have moved class locations and fitness equipment into other areas of the facility to accommodate social distancing guidelines. We have a large facility and are fortunate to be able to leverage the space for our members and users.

Q: What else are you doing in regard to sanitation and reducing the spread of Covid-19?
A: We have been diligently working on enhanced cleaning procedures for our Staff, as well as posting best-practice guidelines within the facility for our users and members. We are also installing numerous new sanitation stations, floor markings, and plexiglass at our check in location. Also, we will be following the standard practice of asking patrons to perform a self-questionnaire regarding Covid 19 symptoms. We ask that anyone who is exhibiting symptoms to leave the facility and call 811 for additional support.

Q: Will the showers/locker rooms be available to use?
A: For the first phase of the launch, locker rooms and showers will remain unavailable. Please come to the RECC in your workout attire and leave your valuables at home/in your vehicle. The RECC is not responsible for lost/stolen valuables. Also, we are restricting access to our water fountains so please bring your own water bottle. We have invested in a new bottle refilling station in our fitness centre that you will be able to use to refill your bottle. If you have any questions about locker rentals please email us at social@ratheastlinkcc.ca

Since the announcement from our Provincial Government that fitness facilities would be permitted to reopen in Nova Scotia we have been diligently consulting with them, and others within the industry, to develop the best approach to reopen in a safe and responsible manner.

We are fortunate at the RECC to have an abundance of space. By spreading our fitness equipment out to other areas of the facility it will enable us to exceed the social distancing guidelines and create a comfortable environment for our members to return to their workouts. No pre-booking of workouts will be required for the fitness centre.

For the first two weeks following our reopening ( July 6th - July 20th ) we ask that only members who are billed monthly/yearly access the facility. Day pass holders/multi pass holders will be able to access after the two week opening. We are doing this temporary measure to ensure we can effectively measure our user capacity and support it with appropriate staffing levels. In the time leading up to our reopening, we will share some information on the changes we have made to meet and exceed recommendations from our public health authorities. We will also outline what the experience will be like for our members and users going forward under covid-19 distancing and enhanced cleaning/disinfecting guidelines.

Using the space available in our facility, we are pleased that we will be able to offer group fitness again. We will be releasing a schedule and additional details around this in the near future. Also, in advance of our opening date we will be releasing some exciting news about a new partnership that will give us the ability to add virtual fitness to our members.

We are very excited to open up the fitness centre but realize that a phased approach to reopening other aspects of our facility is required. As a large multi-purpose facility offering numerous types of services, we need to continually assess our operations, and weigh them against the constantly evolving Public Health Guidelines to ensure that we exceed the expectations of our members and staff.

We will communicate additional information around the next phases of our reopening when available.

We appreciate the patience of all of our members and users and will continue to prioritize your health and safety. We are excited to see everyone again and will continue to update our social media and website with updates.

See you soon! :)
